Born in Cambridge,
Massachusetts and raised in Greensboro, North Carolina, Suzanne
knew from an early age that she wanted to be an artist. After
earning a BFA in 1980 fr om
Parsons School of Design in New York City, Suzanne began what
was to be a prolific career as an illustrator, working in a
style best described as photo-realism. Her work focused on
products for advertising, editorial book covers and sporting
events. Along the way were the births of four children and a
move to Atlanta. Retirement was the right thing when the
children were small, but when their youngest child reached
school age, she felt the pull to resume painting. When asked why
paint wine, Suzanne’s reply is “I gave a great deal of thought
as to what it was I wanted to paint before I even picked up a
brush again. After examining what it was that I most enjoyed
painting when I was an illustrator, I concluded that it was the
minute details that went into the products I illustrated. I
loved to capture the reflections in glass and the detail in the
product labels. Paired with my appreciation of fine wine and the
endless amount of potential subject matter, I knew that painting
wine and Suzanne would be a perfect pairing. I am still as
captivated and excited by my subject matter as I was a few years
ago when I returned to painting.”
